The 2019 Bird Dog Hall of Fame Inductions were held on Saturday, February 9, at the National Bird Dog Museum in Grand Junction, Tennessee. The weather for the event was excellent – a sunny day with temperatures in the high 40s. The turnout for both the morning and afternoon sessions was outstanding, with a record crowd of almost 400 people. The morning session started with a welcome from the National Bird Dog Museum’s Executive Director, Tonya Brotherton, the museum’s President, Mark Medford, and the mayor of Grand Junction, Curtis Lane. Following the welcome, Dave Fletcher, secretary of the museum’s board of directors, recognized the Hall of Fame members that were present and the families of Hall of Fame members that had passed away.

The inductions of English Cocker Spaniels, presided over by Bethann Wiley, were first to be presented. Those inducted were: Peter Dunne Garvan (1922-1976), Vicky L. Thomas of Bismarck, North Dakota, and NFC FC Greatford Meadowcourt Pin, owned by Albert F. Winslow.

Next were the English Springer Spaniels inductions, presided over by Steve Byer. Those inducted were: Don and Pat Bramwell of Wichita, Kansas, Russell Smith of Columbus, Ohio, Salmy’s Masterpiece “Cliff”, owned by Frank Wiseman, and NAFC FC CFC Orion’s Arch Rival “Archie”, owned by Gene Falkowski.

The final morning inductions were the Retrievers, presided over by Mark Medford. Those inducted were: Lynne DuBose of Durham, North Carolina, Dave Rorem of Fayetteville, Texas, Joe Boatright, NFC AFC Seaside’s Pelican Pete, owned by Bob Zylla, and FC AFC Great Bunns of Fire “Jerry Lee”, owned by Lynne DuBose.

After the morning ceremonies, there was a break for a luncheon sponsored by Nestle Purina, Garmin, Avery, and Ainley Kennels & Fabricators. The luncheon was catered by Me & My Tea Room of Dancyville, Tennessee, owned by Catherine Bowling Dean. The food was superb and enjoyed by all. The National Bird Dog Museum is thankful for all of our sponsors, friends, and volunteers who made this event possible. Congratulations to all inductees.
