11/10/2020 Update on the NOC from NOC Secretary Mhari Peschel

As many of you know Utah has experienced a recent surge in Covid cases and the Governor of the state has issued an order which elevates the response to the Covid Crisis.

The trial will be held in Clarkston and an Event Management  Plan will be in place in accordance with the State requirements.  We must follow the requirements set out in the plan or we could risk losing the license to hold the trial.

Here is a brief summary of the procedures to be followed for your information and planning:

  • All attendees must sign in on a register each day
  • Masks will be required by all attendees in the field with the     exception of the handler while actively handling the dog and the gunners while actively shooting
  • Physical distancing must be observed
  • If you have symptoms of COVID do not come to the event

Letter to Qualifiers

As you can imagine planning and preparation for this year’s National English Springer Spaniel National Open Championship has been unique and challenging.  Thank you for your patience and understanding as we are really doing our best to tie up loose ends based on the challenges facing us all.

Congratulations to all that have qualified for entry in the 2020 National Open Championship. This years’ trial will be held near Clarkston, Utah. The headquarters will be the LA Quinta Inn and Suites in Logan Utah, which is about a 25-minute drive to the actual trial grounds. To make a reservation you can contact the hotel at 435.752.0707 and mention that you are with the Springer Spaniel National group.  A block or rooms has been reserved at a great discounted price.  As you may know due to so many uncertainties surrounding the fall season trials you are also eligible to enter if you were qualified for the 2019 National Open.

You will need to look at the National’s pages on the website to find that and other information about the trial. This years’ trial will begin on November 17, 2020 and will run until completion. We welcome our judges Mike Elsasser and Morgan Haglin, a great gun team put together by Joshua Riddle and Bryan Child our co-gun captains. Those handlers that have four or more dogs are welcome to use their private ATV’s. There will also be communal ATV’s available for those that need them. We will have training day on November 16, 2020 and will have birds available for purchase. The premium can be found on  www.essft.com  on the National pages as well as on Hunt Secretary at  www.huntsecretary.com.    We are still working on plans for the banquet and other activities and will post the information as soon as we can.  Please indicate on your sign up form if you would like to attend these activities.

Tentatively a banquet will be held in Logan, Utah on November 17 at the SpringHill Suites. We look forward to seeing you and if you have any questions please feel free to contact Gary Riddle, Bob Child or Mhari Peschel.

This Field Trial is held under Rules and Procedures of the American Kennel Club.

RV Park, RV and ATV Rental Information

Where to park the RV

The only RV park with available space, within 30 minutes of Clarkston, is Aspen Grove in Tremonton UT.

https://aspengrovervpark.com/  435-339-6003 – link to Google Maps

The park is brand new, with huge spaces (90’ long, 20’ wide) with high pressure water, sewer and 50 amp service.

The bath house has full laundry, a large format TV lounge, and three private bathrooms.

The daily rate is $48 for a back in and around $53 for a pull through.

Access to the 30’ x 40’ fenced off-leash dog yard is included.

Mention you are with the English Spring Spaniel Nationals.  Note that a recent local dog show has soured the locals on dog owners, costing the park owners more than a few cancelled/refunds and upset visitors, so expect the park owners to ask about the number of dogs you are bringing onto the property.
