First of all, please accept our apologies for the numerous changes to the details of the WWESSC field trial dates and locations! For those who don’t know, this year our traditional trial dates (first weekend in November) conflicted with the National Cocker Championship so it was decided to change the WWESSC field trial dates to accommodate our members that train and trial with cockers, as well as pro handlers that trial with both springers and cockers. The ESS field trial calendar is very tight giving us few options for new dates. The dates we ended up with were the third weekend in October. We then found out that we would not be able to use any of the areas on the Sunday (the 22nd) or Friday (the 20th) at our usual trial site, Joint Base Lewis McChord near Tacoma. Trial co-chairs Dick Croll and Dave Sadler along with several of our club members have been working diligently to try to identify alternate grounds for our upcoming trial but, due to hunting season, were unable to do so.
As a result we will be making this a one-day trial running all three stakes (Open All-Age, Amateur All-Age, and Puppy) on Saturday October 21 at Joint Base Lewis McChord in either Area 12 or 15. We will start at 8:00 am and will alternate Open and Amateur series (1st Open, 1st Amateur, 2nd Open, 2nd Amateur, 3rd Open, 3rd Amateur) with Puppy scheduled to run after the 2nd series of Amateur.
Our trial headquarters will still be the Prairie Hotel in Yelm, and we hope to be able to change our post-trial get-together to Saturday. More details and directions to the trial site will be sent out after entries close on Saturday October 14.
