The English Springer Spaniel Club of Eastern Nebraska (ESSCEN) is a non-profit association of English Springer Spaniel enthusiasts dedicated to promoting appreciation of the sporting flushing breed. Membership is available to those individuals 18 years of age or older and families who are in good standing with the American Kennel Club (AKC), and who own or expect to own an English Springer Spaniel when applying for membership.

Since the late 1950’s, when it was known as the Three Rivers Club, the Club has encouraged sportsmanship and goodwill through a variety of activities including AKC licensed Field Trials and Hunting Tests, fun trials, training sessions, and social gatherings.

The Club’s field trial history is rich with a tradition of top-flight competition events. It’s first AKC licensed field trial was held at Lake Manawa in 1970 and won by Saighton’s Sizzler. The Club hosted the 1972-73 National Amateur Championship in Mead, NE. Recently, our club hosted the 2011 National Amateur Championship in Beatrice Nebraska.

The Club Activities include:

  • Club Annual Meeting in January
  • Spring Field Trial in late March
  • 2 Hunt Tests in Early May
  • Fall Field Trial in mid-October
  • Educational Classes on Gunning and Judging Field Trials
  • Weekly Training Sessions to simulate trial situations and socialize your puppy or dog.

Dog training and field trial preparation are conducted in a friendly atmosphere in which novice handlers are encouraged to learn the finer points of English Springer Spaniel trialing from Club Veterans and local Professional Trainers.

The ESSCEN is comprised of dedicated people who love the sporting flushing breeds.
